Congratulations to the hard-working Co-chairs, Brynn Baggot Allday, Amy Camp and Michelle Meadows, as well as the Honorary Chairs, Diane and Daryl Johnston, for all their effort for Family Compass.

Describing their 2013 “Legends” as “luminaries and celebrities … who have helped light the way in our community,” Family Compass (formerly known as Child Abuse Prevention Center) holds this year’s fundraising event  on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at The Ritz-Carlton – “A Legendary Evening”

 Longtime supporter Kelly Compton will be honored with the Spirit of Compassion award at A Legendary Evening benefiting Family Compass at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ritz-Carlton Dallas at 2121 McKinney Ave.

Co-chairs of the event are Brynn Bagot Allday, Amy Camp and Michelle Meadows.

Diane and Daryl Johnston will be the honorary chairs.

This year’s event will include cocktails, a seated dinner, music by DJ Andre and silent and live auctions.

WFAA-TV (Channel 8) sports anchor Dale Hansen will be the master of ceremonies.

After holding a celebrity waiter event for 18 years, the organizers decided to change the focus and hold a party that features mingling with Dallas luminaries.

Some of the people scheduled to attend include professional golfer Justin Leonard and his wife, Amanda; former Dallas Stars goalie Marty Turco; Dr. Ron Anderson, retired president and CEO of Parkland Memorial Hospital; WFAA-TV news anchor Gloria Campos; country musician Rudy Gatlin; restaurateurs Tracy Rathbun and Lynae Fearing; investigative reporter Hugh Aynesworth; WFAA-TV meteorologist Colleen Coyle; Miss Texas USA 2013 Natalie Clarke, Dallas County Commissioner Mike Cantrell; former NFL player James Yarbrough; KLUV-FM (98.7) host Jody Dean; reality TV star Melissa Poe; Bob Wright, co-founder of Dallas Social Venture Partners; Todd Conger, CEO of Uncle Julio’s; restaurateur Mico Rodriguez, founder of M Crowd Restaurant Group; PR maven Martha Tiller, president and CEO of Martha Tiller Co.; and model/actor Kris Clinton.

The mission of Family Compass is to build healthy families and a strong community by preventing child abuse and neglect. It runs educational and therapeutic programs for families at increased risk for abuse.

Family Compass, formerly known as the Child Abuse Prevention Center, teaches positive parenting methods and supports parents to help strengthen their families’ emotional, economical, physical and social capacities.
