The Art Finder & Dealer: Alan Barnes

If you’re art lovers like we are and always looking for that perfect painting, we’ve found a great source in our friend Alan Barnes.  His gallery, Alan Barnes Fine Art, has a stock of over two thousand quality 19th and 20th century paintings from both sides of the Atlantic.  Just give him the budget and size, and he’ll find you a piece of art that is beyond compare.

THE IRISH EXHIBITION – Dallas 2012

Alan Barnes Fine Art currently is showcasing Anglo-Irish artist John Kingerlee in an exhibition, “From Cleanagh and Beyond”, in tribute to the late Dr. Edmund Pillsbury, who praised Kingerlee as the next Paul Cezanne.

“My hope is, that in years from now, John Kingerlee, through his unique universal art, will have as much influence on the 21st century as Turner, his great ancestor, had on the 19th century and even Paul Cezanne, an artist that Kingerlee deeply reveres, had on the 20th century art.”

Art lovers can see “the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of Irish paintings ever to be assembled in Texas” now through Oct. 13, 2012.

Colossus, by John Kingerlee

The Alan Barnes Fine Art gallery is located 2800 Henderson Avenue, Suite 100, Dallas, TX 75206.  Contact Alan Barnes at (214) 828-1311, alanbarnesfineart@sbcglobal.net, or www.alanbarnesfineart.com.

Introducing Gina’s Organic Kitchen: Super Tasty. Super Healthy. SuperFoods.™

Can’t wait for you to meet my new friend, Gina Paterno Villalobos, THE ORGANIC COACH®.  The delightful, upbeat, positive plus attitude Gina, worked her way through a health crisis to a newfound awareness about the importance of what we eat and ended up with an exciting new career.

Gina’s Inspiration

After being diagnosed with high-risk Breast Cancer nine years ago, Gina Paterno Villalobos turned to organic whole foods to detoxify her body of harsh chemotherapy treatments, rebuild her immune system and regain her health. So amazed by the miraculous, natural healing properties found in these “superfoods”, she decided to leave her corporate NYC life in order to become fully educated in Wholistic Nutrition.

“I immersed myself in studying the wholistic macrobiotic approach to diet and lifestyle, which incorporates traditional wisdom and longevity practices of traditional cultures around the world and the Eastern philosophy of energy balance within ourselves and our environment.  Macrobiotics helped me understand the connection between diet and lifestyle and what causes disease.” – Gina

Trained at the world-renowned Kushi Institute Center for Natural Healing (the top macrobiotic center in the US) as a certified Macrobiotic Instructor, certified in Food Therapy from the world-famous Natural Gourmet Institute for Food & Health, and in Plant-Based Nutrition from Cornell University, today Gina is a rare expert in Food as Medicine, Health Education, Wholistic Nutrition, and is a natural whole foods chef.

Moving to Dallas from Connecticut last year, Gina’s knowledge of natural whole foods facilitated a career in coaching others about healthier living and preparing foods for healthier eating.

For those of us short on the time and expertise required to prepare organic whole foods, but who want to purchase and consume such, we look for Gina’s Organic Kitchen™.  Premiering in Oct., Gina’s Organic Kitchen™ will initially offer the convenience of delivery to the Dallas area as well as pick-up at her cooking Kitchen at 10870 Plano Road in Dallas.  But organic enthusiasts should look for a Dallas area storefront and dine-in location soon.

Patrons of Uptown Consignment “Simply” Shopped for a Cause

Sherri Tilley of The Flash List, Mary Frazier of Northwood University, Camille Umland of Uptown Consignment, Anika Cooper of Simply Grace, and Connie Dieb of Uptown Consignment & “Big Rich Texas” at the Simply Grace fundraiser shopping event

This past weekend at the “truly upscale resale boutique” Uptown Consignment, co-owners/sisters Connie Dieb and Camille Umland joined forces with the Style Network’s “Big Rich Texas” to host a shopping fundraiser for Simply Grace, a recovery residence for those who have completed drug and alcohol treatment programs.  While enjoying hors d’oeuvres prepared by Connie from her upcoming cookbook, shoppers found steals on deals of designer digs from Chanel and Chloe to Oscar and Dior.  Those looking for handbag heaven found three new, never-been-carried LVs. By the time party guests/shoppers finished with the three racks of brand new designer clothes (original price tags still on), the store looked like Target on the morning that Missoni hit the racks.  But all for a good cause, as a portion of the proceeds went to Simply Grace…and “Big Rich Texas” grabbed a few scenes for next season.  Stay tuned.

But shoppers don’t have to wait long to see the latest designer discounts going on at Uptown Consignment.  Tax-Free Weekend starts tomorrow—take advantage of all the great wardrobe must-haves at under $100.  Ladies, get your shop on!

George Hamilton in the Dallas Summer Musicals

George Hamilton

Don’t miss the one and only George Hamilton in the Dallas Summer Musicals La Cage aux Folles.  Opened last night at The Music Hall at Fair Park.  George is as dapper as ever.  He was a favorite Password player when I worked on the show…and remember he took Lynda Bird Johnson to the Oscars the year she was named to the International Best Dressed List when her dad was President.  George reminded me that LBJ sent for him to come to Lynda’s wedding when she married Chuck Robb.
